Code of Ethics

By joining, members of Retriever Klub CZ accept and adopt this Code of Ethics for retriever breeders and owners.

  1. An RK CZ member provides care, a home, treatment, enrichment, training, and veterinary care to all retrievers in their possession.
  2. The breed standard is law to them, and they will never violate its wording by surgically or otherwise modifying a non-standard individual.
  3. A puppy that does not meet standard criteria shall be placed in conditions that provide a full life and home, and no information regarding the puppy’s condition shall be withheld.
  4. They comply with the Animal Protection Act against cruelty and advocate for it even in relation to other animals not in their care.
  5. They refuse to participate in the breeding of individuals without pedigree and spread awareness among beginners in a kind manner and by their own example.
  6. They never use individuals for breeding that in any way damage the traits of the breed according to the breed standard, whether in terms of temperament, health, or conformation.
  7. They ensure that their dogs do not disturb neighbors or other persons, thereby avoiding damage to the breed’s reputation.
  8. They maintain their own good name as a breeder, as well as the best reputation of the breed, in whose presentation they actively participate.
  9. They provide advice and assistance to newcomers, primarily for the welfare of the breed.
  10. Through education and staying informed in the field of retriever breeding, they become protectors of these amazing beings and inspire those around them to love the breed, rather than seeking personal enrichment at the expense of retrievers.
